English Abstract

The widespread use of smart devices and mobile applications is leading to a massive growth of wireless data traffic.

Supporting the upcoming demands of data volume, communication rate, and system capacity requires a reconsideration of the existing network architecture.

Traditionally, users communicate through the Base station (BS).

By allowing Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, that is, direct transmission between the users, we can enhance both the efficiency and scalability of future networks.

The aim of this study is to propose a methodology to detect the proximity of the devices to each other, and reduce the overhead on the BS by dividing devices into clusters.

D2D communications are expected to play an important role in current and future cellular generations with 5th Generation technology increasing the spatial reuse of allocation resources, and enabling lower latency communication links.

We propose an approach based on taking advantage of proximity discovery devices from each other, and how to reduce the overhead on the BS by calculating the value of RSS of each device within the network, and choosing the highest values of devices to connect them directly with the BS.

In addition, divided into a cluster based on the distance between each device and the CH.

Moreover, communication between devices takes place in two ways: If the devices within the same cluster, they communicate directly through the CH.

Whereas if outside the cluster, send the packet to the BS which in turn determines in which cluster the destination device and send to CH for that cluster, which is forwarding it to the destination device.
