المعالجة الإخبارية للتظاهرات العراقية في الصحافة الخليجية: دراسة تحليلية

Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the methods of news treatment of the events of the Iraqi demonstrations in the Gulf press within the Saudi Middle East and Al-Raya newspapers, and to identify the amount of attention given by the sample newspapers to the Iraqi demonstrations, the extent of the media orientation of the Gulf press towards Iraqi events, and knowledge of the political connection of the countries affiliated to the study newspapers through Reflection of news coverage of events and knowledge of state policy on the form and direction of news processing.

The study also relied on the theory of prioritization (agenda) as a theoretical introduction to it, and this study is descriptive research, using the survey method in a comprehensive survey style for the news coverage of the Iraqi demonstrations in the Saudi newspapers Al-Sharq al-Awsat and Al-Raya as a representative sample of the Gulf newspapers during the mentioned study period.

The results were extracted from the available data to determine the nature of the news treatment of the events of the Iraqi demonstrations, because that treatment focused on the manifestations of the crisis from the point of view of the communicator, and it tended to research the causes of the phenomenon and how to confront its negative effects on Iraqi society in particular and on Gulf and Arab society in general, which allows the researcher to interpret the results in the light of news coverage that tends to depth, explanation, analysis and interpretation needed in a complex issue such as the Iraqi demonstrations.

The researcher used the content analysis tool to reach the objectives of the study based on (content categories what was said and categories of form how it was said) during the period from 1/10/2019 to 31/3/2020 and in a comprehensive inventory method of the topics and contents of the protest movements.
