English Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the saving gap in both the government and private sectors on current account deficit by taking quarterly data for 2005-2015 for current account deficit as dependent variable and Government sector gap and Private sector gap, Gross domestic product as explanatory variable.

By using The Auto Regressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL), The empirical results demonstrated that there is a positive and significant impact of the government sector gap and private sector gap on the Jordanian current account deficit but the coefficient of Gross domestic product indicate there is a Negative and significant impact on current account deficit.

In this light this study also attempts to investigate long run equilibrium between the variable, and the result indicate there is Cointegrating indicating along run equilibrium between the variables.

The study recommended increasing the share of internal financing for domestic investment.
