This article seeks to identify the linguistic levels in “al-Qämous al-Mohit” by investigating lexical entries' nature and classifying their levels orderly and purposefully with justifying the levels' importance and the their objective in general dictionaries specifically in “al-Qämous al-Mohit”.

the study found that “al-Qämous al-Mohit” had several linguistic levels concerning the place, time, commonness or the cultural and social information.

it included the eloquent, mentioned the rare, the arabicized and the begotten.

also, it pointed to colloquialism with its dialects.

it distinguished the neglected and strange words, which all had the centered role in determining the meaning.

thus, el-Mohit was demanded and took as a basic reference.
