Grammatical abbreviations are a prominent phenomenon in Arab Islamic thought, in which authorship continued since the late second century ah at intervals without interruption, and interest in them evolved until competitions prolonged in the interest of scholars in classification and teaching, and the interest of learners in study and achievement.

this article comes to shed light on the phenomenon of grammatical abbreviations in Arab heritage through the book “Ellama'” (the gloss) by Ibn Jinni, in order to reveal the cognitive, methodological and educational value of this syntactic abbreviation, in addition to inducing and deducing the implicit and the explicit of the educational, linguistic and psychological dimensions that it stores, with a view to benefiting from them in building contemporary grammar curriculum.
