The effect of using infographics on English vocabulary retention of the second intermediate graders

This study aimed at investigating the effect of using infographics on English vocabulary retention of the second intermediate graders.

The study adopted a quasi-experimental design employing two groups (experimental and control).

The experimental group (N=27) was taught the vocabulary of the second term of English language book of 2nd intermediate grade through info graphics.

The control group (N=26) was taught the same vocabulary through the traditional method.

The researcher prepared an achievement test (pre, post & delayed) to collect data.

The data of the study were analyzed using T-test Independent sample and T-test paired sample.

Effect size technique was used to measure the influence of info graphics on the experimental group.

The findings of the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores attained by the experimental group and those attained by the control group in the post application of the vocabulary achievement test in favor of the experimental group due to the use of the info graphics in favor of the post application.

Thus, the findings of the study revealed that the info graphics were effective in developing students’ English vocabulary and its retention.

It is revealed that the results of post and retention test were in favor of the experimental group, and can be attributed to the effectiveness of using the info graphics.

Based on the previous findings, the study recommended that EFL Saudi teachers should adopt the use of info graphics to develop students’ vocabulary learning and its retention.
