The issue of the spread of landmines is one of the main challenges facing Iraq for nearly four decades, and it is also considered one of the most important obstacles to living in safety and economic development, especially since its danger still exists despite the tireless international efforts to help Iraq remove them and clear large areas of them.

There are many difficulties that face the disposal of landmines, and their spread over large areas, in addition to technical, security and other difficulties.
