Election is one of the most important pillars of the democratic system of government, as it is the important means to participate in the formation of the political system of the country represented by the authority.

To ensure effective participation in the elections, it must be based on an electoral law that guarantees the participation of all citizens.

The electoral law is the cornerstone of the electoral process, because it is the one who designs and organizes it in all its stages, and with it it is possible to reach a political system that reflects the true representation of voters, and thus to achieve the stability of the country and the regularity of its constitutional institutions, or vice versa.

Hence the importance of the electoral law, and in this research we will discuss the Iraqi Parliament Elections Law No.

(9) for the year 2020 in terms of the type of electoral system that was adopted, the type of electoral districts, the conditions of the candidate, the quota for minorities, and articles (46 and 45) thereof by comparing them with what was taken It contains the electoral laws applied in Iraq after 2003 in order to shed light on them and know the best ones for the Iraqi reality.
