This study investigates the impact of the context of specification that Ibn Jinni usedto explain the grammatical functions of the vocabulary items as constituents of thecomposition being analyzed.
Ibn Jinni analyzed the Holy Quran, the classic poetry, andthe contemporary poetry as samples for his grammatical analysis.
His main goal was toanalyze the structure of those texts in order to identify their constituents and to clarifythe interrelationship of their elements.
Among the presumptions that can be underlinedby the context of specification were transitivity, finality, circumstantiality, emphasis, limitation, and exclusion.
