The aim of the study is to define the political conflict between the Saffarid and Samanid states in the period (265-287 AH/879-900AD), during the reign of Prince Amr bin Al-Layth Al-Saffari, who reigned after the death of his brother Yaqoub bin Al-Laith (237-265 AH/852-878AD), the founder of the Saffarid State in the region of Sijistan, and its surroundings It is clarified in the research that Prince Amr bin Al-Laythstruggled to expand his sphere of influence and extend his control to the lands of the Abbasid state which considered him a source of trouble and found in the Samanid state the best rescuer from him.

Therefore, it stoke fire of conflict between him and Prince Ismail bin Ahmed whom it encouraged and incited to fight with him, as the Abbasid state was the main cause of the disruption of relations between the Saffarid and Samanid states.

The result was a conflict between the two princes, Amr bin Al-Layth and Ismail bin Ahmed, that ended with the Saffari prince being captured by the Samanids in 287 AH / 885 AD, and the fall of the Saffarid state at the hands of the Samanid state in 289 AH / 903 AD
