Abstract EN

This study aim at investigating the ability of fourth year students in producing the accentual function of intonation.

Eighty one students from the Iraqi Universities participated in the current study.

The data is collected by using a test.

The results revealed that Iraqi EFL students have difficulties in producing the accentual function of intonation.

It is clear from the errors, which the fourth year students have made, that this study agrees with the creative construction theory, input hypothesis and inter-language theory.

On the basis of the conclusion, number of recommendations and suggestions are presented.
