Abstract EN

Iraqi reality has pushed many poets to emigrate, just like many Iraqi poets do.

they were in the diaspora, through more than one stage in the modern era.

but the splash was distinguished in terms of its magnitude and uniqueness of its experience after the American occupation of Iraq in 2003.

as the number of immigrants increased to different parts of the world.

and the diaspora poetry archive became rich in kinds of suffering.

a spiritual turmoil and existential disappointment descended upon him, which took poetry as its theater.

the representations of the diaspora in Iraqi poetic discourses emerged as a distinct element in post-2003 literature.

therefore, this topic was worthy of approach and research from two sides : the first is related to the nature of the experience of Iraqi poets in the diaspora, which has acquired a specificity that allows research to favor the concept of (diaspora) and to give it a capacity for significance, by looking at the nature of that experience and balancing it with other diaspora experiences that writers have been exposed to in other societies and in other circumstances.

such as societies that were subjected to long-term invasion and conquest, and the special cultural reality that resulted in it, which became known as the post-colonial stage.

and the second aspect is related to highlighting the way in which the poetry of Iraqi diaspora dealt with the theme of (homeland) not only in terms of being a geopolitical space, but as a cultural space that formed memory and identity, and was deeply embedded in conscience, to the extent that it produced a state of life ambivalence in conscience and memory.

accordingly, the research came to answer several questions, most notably : how did the Iraqi diaspora's poetry crystallize culturally ? has this poetry entered into new forms of dialogue (between / across) the cultures of the host countries ? what is the nature of the memories of Iraqi poets about their real homeland, which has turned into an imaginary ? how do they see themselves in their presentations today, as expatriates from a country ruled by a state of uncertainty and lack of clarity in everything ? what are the different poetic patterns to define the pure, non-hybrid Iraqi identity in the poetic text ? is the function of the diaspora poets to raise awareness about the conditions of life of expatriates and displaced persons amidst their intense feeling of exile ? can poetry, for example, expose imperialism and expose the methods of war makers ?
