The current research aims to analyze the Arabic grammar book for the intermediate stage according to the functional approach, and the availability of the dimensions of the functional entrance in the grammatical topics contained in the book of the Arabic language for the intermediate stage, and for the purpose of achieving the goal of the research, the researcher reviewed the literature and studies dealing with the analysis of books and the functional approach, the researcher prepared a list the dimensions of the functional entrance, and then presenting them to experts and specialists in Arabic language curricula and teaching methods ; this is to clarify their opinions and observations in it, in terms of addition, deletion and modification, until the research tool was completed and reached its final form.
for the purpose of extracting the results, the researcher used the frequencies and percentages of the dimensions of the functional entrance.
the results of the search for the dimensions in the first part of the grammatical topics are as follows: the highest achieved dimension is (the functional dimension in the exercises) with a frequency of (25) and a percentage of (49.01%), it is followed by (the functional dimension in the text, presentation and examples) with a frequency of (18) at a rate of (35.29%), then it is followed by (the functional dimension in the grammatical rule) with (8) recurrences at a rate of (15.69%).
as for the results achieved for the dimensions of the functional entrance in the grammatical topics of the arabic language book, part two, they were as follows : the highest achieved dimension is (the functional dimension in the exercises) with a frequency (23) and a percentage (43.31%)), and it comes after it (the functional dimension in the text, presentation and examples) with a frequency (21) with a percentage (39.62%), then it is followed by (the dimension functional in the grammatical rule) at a rate of (9) recurrences, at a rate of (16.98%).1- in light of the achieved results, the researcher recommended recommendations, including: adopting the dimensions of the functional entrance as a criterion in building and developing Arabic grammar books because of the importance of these dimensions in the lives of students.
2- making functional learning dimensions a basis in building educational programs and teaching methods, and employing these dimensions in any process of developing educational content, especially Arabic language books and its rules.
to complete this research, the researcher suggested some suggestions : 1- conducting a study on the content of literature books and texts in other academic levels.
2- conducting a study on the Arabic grammar books for the primary stage and knowing the availability of the dimensions of the functional entrance in those books.
