In this scientific article, we are dealing with the french settlement phenomenon in Algeria, by defining its concept as a historical term by highlighting its true significance, as a western ideological fact with economic, social and cultural dimensions, its roots extend to the era of geographical statements, based on on racist foundations, based on the superiority of the white man and European civilization, and to identify the historical background of colonial French settlement project in Algeria, which is based on a study in the depth of the regions western colonial past, by highlighting its first historical origins knowledge of the western human races, that were established by it are perhaps the most important of them: the Romans, Wendall, Byzantines, Spanish, the various scientific studies they wrote, on which the French relied in preparing the ground for their settlement in Algeria, wether it is related to the geographical aspect, economic, social, let alone the intellectual debates that the French elite have presented, and research has reached the point of defining the most suitable areas for French settlement in Algeria.
