Abstract EN

The world is still in constant change as a result of the great expansion in the use of information and communication technology ICT, which has penetrated all aspects of life, and created a series of essential roles, basic challenges and future prospects that should be considered and reviewed.

Hence, the aim of the study was to determine the role played by information and communication technology in consolidating the transition to distance learning as one of the modern educational patterns that respond to the requirements and challenges of modernity.

The descriptive and analytical approach was used to address the problem.

In the end, we concluded that the strong infrastructure of information and communication technology is a key factor for the success of the rapid transition to the distance learning system and the consolidation of its pillars, especially the Internet, as indicated by the selected international models.
