Abstract EN

The present study aims at finding out the impact of using wheatly model on 1st year students' achievement at department of Quran sciences and Islamic education in basics of education subject.

in order to achieve the above aim, the following null hypothesis was set : - there is no statistically significant difference at level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group student, who were taught according to model and the mean scores of the control group, who were taught according to the traditional method.

- the partial–regulated post achievement test was adopted.

the sample of the current study is 1st year students at department of the Quran sciences and Islamic education at college of education Ibn–Rushd for human sciences.

the researcher has randomly selected two sections, assigning section (a) as the experimental group and section (c) as the control one.

the total number of the sample is (69) male and female students after excluding the previous year repeaters and leavers.

the final total number is (60), distributing into (30) students as the experimental group and (30) students as the control one.

the two groups were matched in some of the variables that might effect the results of the experiment such as (iq test, and parents' education).

results of the hypothesis showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the two groups.

the researcher has taught four chapters for both groups during the academic year 2017-2018.

then, a pre-achievement test was conducted at the end of the experiment.

this test included (40) items.

the psychometric features of the test were verified.

results revealed that there are statistically significant differences at level of (0.05) and in favour of the experimental group.

hence, the researcher concluded that adopting wheatly model has a positive impact in increasing students' achievement.

the researcher suggests holding training courses for the teaching staff members and to conduct similar studies in other study subjects.
