Using blogs as a learning tool for the improvement of writing skills and enhancing attitudes towards learning English for Iraqi university students

Many studies agree that blog use can enhance second language learning positively , and that blogs can improve the skill of writing .

research has confirmed the blog's positive uses, including writing for an audience and peer review, the creation of group meaning through an atmosphere for collective learning via weblog which is considered as online learning device model in education with its significant benefits.

this study was undertaken to investigate a group of (25) fourth year Iraqi students of English department / college of education, university of Diyala for the second semester 2019-2020 in using blogs to develop skills in writing and to strengthen attitudes towards learning English .

the results indicate students often viewed the weblog as a medium to develop their writing skills and attitudes in English and providing a chance and freedom of self-expression to both local and global audiences, to create productive, engaging social exchanges on forums, and to establish an intimate relationship with each other.

all in all, students have had good weblog attitudes.

these findings show that weblogs can inspire learning and provide authorship opportunities, as well as development of writing skills for the students.
