Alienation and political awareness in bond's plays: bingo, and the narrow road to the deep north

The separation or estrangement of human beings from some essential aspect of their nature or from society, often resulting in feelings of powerlessness or helplessness has come to be known as alienation .

Today, the concept of alienation has become part of ordinary language, much used in the media .Alienation is a major theme of human condition in the contemporary epoch .

It is only natural that a pervasive phenomenon like alienation should leave such an indelible impact upon the contemporary literature .Political awareness means complete understanding or knowledge of the activities and affairs involved in managing a state or government .This study aimed at investigating the extent of embodiment of alienation and political awareness in Edward Bond's plays Bingo and Narrow Road to the Deep North .

It also aimed at showing how alienation and political awareness are depicted in these plays .

The study adopted the critical analytical method.
