Abstract EN

This study aims at identifying the levels of emotional balance and academic compatibility, and the relation between them for a sample of the students of the College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University.

The study employs some variables for the study community, represented in (gender and academic major).

In order to achieve the study objective, the descriptive correlational approach has been used.

For responding to study questions, the researcher adopts emotional balance measure prepared by Al-Khalidi (2002), and academic compatibility measure prepared by Youngman (1979), translated and adapted to the Arab environment by Al-Direini (1985).

The study has concluded that the general level of both emotional balance and academic compatibility for the students of the College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University is high, and that there is a statistically significant correlation at the significance level of (α=0.01) between the emotional balance level and academic compatibility degree.

The study conclusions have shown that there are statistically significant differences at the significance level of (α=0.05) in the emotional balance level according to the gender variable in favor of the male student sample.

They state also that there are statistically significant differences at the significance level of (α=0.05) in the academic compatibility level according to the gender variable in favor of male students as to the dimension of hardworking and diligence.

On the contrary, there are no statistically significant differences in the remaining dimension of the measure, or at the significance level of (α=0.05) at the emotional balance and academic compatibility levels according to the scientific fields of specialization variables (scientific, human) as to all measure dimensions.

The study has concluded that there is statistically significant impact of the emotional balance variable on predicting the academic compatibility for the students of the College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University, the Sultanate of Oman.
