Arabic Abstract

هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى التحقق من فعالية برنامج لغة الاشارة الأمريكية في تطوير مهارات القراءة الفاهمة في اللغة الإنجليزية لدى الطلاب الصم وضعيفي السمع الفلسطينيين.

استخدمت الباحثة المنهج شبه التجريبي.

وتم تخصيص مجموعة تجريبية واحدة كعينة للدراسة مكونة من 30 طالبة صم، تم اختيارهم بطريقة قصدية من مدرسة الرافعي الثانوية للصم في مدينة غزة.

ولقد تم تدريب الطلبة الصم وضعيفي السمع على برنامج لغة الاشارة الامريكية الذي يتضمن (20) ساعة تدريبية استمرت لاربعة اسابيع واستخدمت الباحثة ادائين، الأولى اختبار مهارات الفهم القرائي والذي تم تطبيقه قبل وبعد البرنامج.

واستخدمت الباحثة اداة المقابلة مع الطالبات للكشف عن المميزات والعيوب للبرنامج التدريبي.

وفحصت الباحثة التوزيع الطبيعي باستخدام اختبار ،سابيرو، واختبار هو تلينج لعينة مرتبطة بالاضافة الى مربع اينا لقياس فعالية البرنامج التدريبي لتحسين مهارات الفهم القرائي.

و لقد كشفت النتائج أن برنامج لغة الاشارة الأمريكية كان فعالاً في تطوير مهارات الفهم القرائي في اللغة الإنجليزية لدى الطلاب الصم وضعيفي السمع الفلسطينيين.

وأظهرت النتائج ايضاً أن الطلاب أحبو الانشطة خلال تطبيق البرنامج التدريبي ، وأصبح لديهم الدافعية لقراءة نصوص مختلفة باللغة الانجليزية وفي ضوء هذه النتائج ، توصى الباحثة معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية الفلسطينيين باستخدام برنامج لغة الاشارة الأمريكية عند تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية لدى الطلاب الصم وضعيفي السمع الفلسطينيين.

وتوصى ايضا بزيادة وعي الطلبة الصم بضرورة تعلم لغة الاشارة الامريكية لكي يكونوا قادرين على قراءة النصوص باللغة الانجليزية والتواصل مع الصم وضعيفي السمع في جميع أنحاء العالم.

English Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of ASL program in developing the Palestinian DHH students' English reading comprehension skills.

The researcher used the quasi-experimental approach.

One experimental group of (30) DHH, selected from Elrafie school for deaf in Gaza city, was assigned as the sample of the study.

Those students attended a 20-hour training program which lasted for four weeks.

And, the instruments used in the current study was a reading comprehension skills test which students did before and after the experiment, and a semi-structured interview to reveal the advantages and drawbacks of the training program from the participants' perspectives.

The researcher used Shapiro Wilk test to measure the normal distribution of the data, Hotlings T test for a paired sample and Eta Square to measure the effectiveness of the ASL training program in enhancing the participants' reading comprehension skills.

Results showed that the ASL training program is so effective in enhancing the reading comprehension skills of the DHH students.

In addition, the findings revealed that the participants of the study liked the activities of the training program and they become so motivated to read various types of English texts.

In light of the aforementioned results, the researcher recommends EFL Palestinian teachers to use the ASL when teaching English language to DHH students.

Additionally, she recommends that it is important to raise the DHH students' awareness of the necessity to learn the ASL so as to be able to read English texts and communicate with other DHH all over the world.
