Arabic Abstract

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التحقق من أثر استخدام نموذج ال SIOP القائم على التعلم النشط في تطوير مهارات التحدث باللغة الانجليزية لدى طلبة الصف السادس الأساسي، لأجل ذلك الغرض اختارت الباحثة عينتها القصدية من مدرسة الوحدة الخاصة للغات - غرب غزة و التي تدرس اللغة الانجليزية من خلال العلوم و الرياضيات و الأدب و طبقت تجربتها على مجموعة واحدة و التي تمثلت بـ 20 طالب و طالبة من الصف السادس.

و الجدير بالذكر أن الباحثة استخدمت المنهج شبه التجريبي، حيث تم تحديد مهارات التحدث الفرعية المراد تطويرها من خلال تحليل وحدة الأرض ( والفضاء) و هي الوحدة الثالثة من مقرر العلوم الذي يدرس باللغة الانجليزية و من ثم صممت أداة الدراسة و المتمثلة ببطاقة الملاحظة التي من خلالها تمت ملاحظة أداء الطلبة و استجاباتهم قبل تطبيق النموذج و استخدام ثلاث استراتيجيات للتعلم النشط و هي : استراتيجية فكر، زاوج، شارك، و استراتيجية حوض السمك و استراتيجية الجيكسو كما تمت أيضا ملاحظة أداء الطلاب و استجاباتهم بعد التطبيق.

و قد أوضحت الدراسة من خلال الملاحظة البعدية وتحليل النتائج احصائيا أن استخدام النموذج المقترح القائم على استراتيجيات التعلم النشط له أثر واضح على مهارات التحدث.

و بناءا على هذه النتائج فقد أوصت الباحثة على استخدام نموذج SIOP في تدريس اللغة الانجليزية من خلال المحتوى كالعلوم و الرياضيات و الأدب و التي يمكن من خلاله تطوير المهارات الأخرى للغة و توصي الباحثة أيضا بإجراء مزيد من الدراسات لدراسة أثر النموذج على عملية تحسين الجوانب و المهارات اللغوية الأخرى.

English Abstract

This study aimed in investigating the impact of using SIOP model based on active learning on developing English language speaking skills among six graders.

To achieve this purpose the researcher chose a purposive sample from ALWehda Private Languages School west - Gaza which teaches English language through science, math and literature.

The researcher used the quasi-experimental design.

The experiment was applied on one group of 20 six grade students (male and female).

The researcher determined the sub skills of speaking which are aimed to be developed according to a content analysis of the (Earth &Space) unit, which is the third unit in the English science syllabus.

Consequently, the researcher designed the tool of the study which is represented by an observation card which was used to observe the response and the performance of the students before implementing the suggested model which is based on the active learning strategies which are think, pair and share strategy, fishbowl strategy and jigsaw strategy.

After finishing the experiment, the performance of the students was observed and the results were statistically analyzed.

The results showed the using of the suggested model based on the active learning has a clear impact on the speaking skills.

According to these results the researcher recommended to use the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) model in teaching English language through content as in science, history, math and literature in which other skills can be developed.

Also, she recommended that more research should be dedicated to examine the role of SIOP model in the process of improving other language aspects and skills.
