English Abstract

Ttwelfth graders in Gaza suffer from weakness in EFL writing skills.

The researcher developed a suggested model based on constructivism to tackle this problem as well as to enhance their reflective thinking.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a suggested model Read to Write (RW) based on constructivism on the writing skill performance and the reflective thinking of the twelfth graders in Beit Hanoun.

In order to fulfil the aim of the study, the researcher used quasiexperimental design of two purposefully assigned, randomly-chosen groups with pre and post tests of writing skills and reflective thinking for each.

The sample consisted of (87) female students in two groups; control 43 and experimental 44.

Different statistical tests were used to analyse the data to the end of answering the study questions and testing the hypotheses.

The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) between the means of the experimental group and control group in relation to the writing skills and reflective thinking in favour of eexperimental group.

Also, the effect size of using the model based on constructivism was significantly large on students' writing skills and the reflective thinking.

The researcher strongly recommended using the suggested model RW in teaching writing skill and enhancing the twelfth graders reflective thinking.

Also, she recommended that teachers must be trained on how to use constructivism in teaching English in general and in teaching writing skill in particular.
