The concept of the Landscape appeared in Europe in the Renaissance, and landscape studies developed in Western thought, where Augustine Burke divided civilizations into theoretical and non-theoretical.

although the Arab-Islamic civilization has a huge blog celebrating nature and place, we do not find a linguistic equivalent to the foreign term landscape, in the almost complete absence of any scientific interest in everything related to landscape studies in the Arab world.

this paper aims to illuminate the concept of landscape and the development of its studies in cultural geography, and the meeting between geography and literature.

the most important characteristic of the landscape is its interactive nature between nature and society, and between sensory data and collective representations.

cultural geography explains its inclination towards literature as embracing the symbolic dimension of the landscape and the experience of space.
