The present paper examines Radwa Ashour's life writings and attempts to exhume some of the never finalizable traces the texts unfold.

through her vehement endeavour to rewrite her story, the macro and micro levels of history intertwine bringing to the fore an interminable chain of seemingly disconnected temporo-spatial allocations of events where personal, national, and continental dimensions are neatly interwoven.

through a spectral reading to Ashour's life writings, the concept of trace is reconnoitred where selves are haunted by other selves and texts by others giving some line of direction to reading Ashour as a creative writer, a critic and a relentless activist.
