English Abstract
This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of creative drama in developing the listening and speaking skills in the Arabic language subject for female fourth grade students in Gaza.
The researcher used a listening skill test, and an observation card for the Speaking skill.
The study samples consisted of (64) female students from the fourth-grade class at Ibn Rushd Elementary Co-ed School and adopted the experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design for the two groups.
The most important results of the study are the following : 1.
There are statistically significant differences at the level (a=0.01) between the average scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test of the listening skill in favour of the experimental group.
2.
There are statistically significant differences at the level (a=0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post application of the Speaking skill observation card in favour of the experimental group.
The main recommendations of the study are as follows : 1.
The necessity of paying attention to using creative drama as an introduction to teaching Arabic in the primary stages.
2.
Encouraging teachers to employ creative drama in the educational process as one of the methods that further stimulates learning.
3.
Paying attention to developing the Speaking skill when planning the Arabic language subject, preparing appropriate strategies for that, and training in it.
4.
Preparing proposed programmes to train Arabic language teachers in the primary stage on how to employ creative drama in teaching Arabic at the primary level.
