English Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of education directors in the southern governorates of Palestine practicing innovative leadership skills from the viewpoint of employees, and to arrive at a suggested proposal for developing innovative leadership skills for education directors in the southern governorates of Palestine.

Approach and study producers : To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical approach and the constructivist approach were used.

The main study tool was a questionnaire to measure the degree of education directors’ practice of innovative leadership skills.

The study population consisted of (41 deputy directors and 431 department heads) in the directorates of education in the southern governorates of Palestine.

The study sample was chosen using the comprehensive survey method, and the study questionnaire was applied to them, and 421 of them returned the questionnaire with a response rate of (108168).

Study Results : The study reached several results, the most important of which were that the degree of practice by education directors in the southern governorates of Palestine of innovative leadership skills from the viewpoint of their deputies and department heads in directorates came at a high level, with a relative weight (%283668).

The dimension of perseverance and persistence ranked first, with a relative weight (%68%08), followed by the dimension of strategic perspective at (%284138).

This was followed by new ideas and initiatives dimension with a relative weight (%28428), then the problem-solving dimension with a relative weight (%48118), the dimension of risk, with a relative weight (%482%48), and finally came the dimension of procedural approach with a relative weight (%681148).

It was also found that there were no statistically significant differences between the averages of the sample’s estimates about the degree of education directors in the southern governorates of Palestine practicing the skills of innovative leadership attributed to the variables of nature of work, years of service, and educational level, while differences attributed to the variable of the educational region appeared.

The researcher reached a suggested proposal consisting of six main objectives, of which a group of secondary aims and activities were derived.

Study Recommendations :- The study recommends adopting the objectives, policies, activities and suggested programmes that the study reached, training educational leaders on methods of innovation and problem solving, and providing support commensurate with the needs of directorates and with ideas and innovative initiatives.
