English Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of a proposed training program based on Next Generation Science Standards for the (NGSS), in improving the Instructional Effectiveness of science teachers in Gaza, by preparing a proposed training program based on (NGSS), and studying its ffectiveness in improving Instructional Effectiveness which represented by familiarity of (NGSS) standards, and the ability to plan and implement lessons in light of (NGSS), and to measure the motivation of science teachers towards the profession of teaching science in light of (NGSS).
To achieve the goal, mixed approach of (explanatory design) type was employed, and then four tools were prepared to measure the instructional effectiveness dimensions.
And represented by the cognitive test in standards (NGSS), the lesson planning scorecard, observational practice card, science teacher motivation scorecard in light of the NGSS standards, and the validity and reliability of the research tools were verified.
Simple random sample of science teachers was selected from the Directorate of Education - East Gaza, and their number was (22) teachers.
This research presented next generation science standards for life science subjects for the higher basic level, and was analyzed into three dimensions, and the research also found that the level of instructional effectiveness for teachers before training program was less than the default rate of 60%, and the results of the research showed that there is effectiveness of the proposed training with modified gain (black) ratio = (1.23), and there is an efficiency for the training program, where 80% of science teachers got higher than 85%.
Several recommendations were reached, including: developing professional training programs for in-service science teachers at all school levels to effectively employ next generation science standards, and preparing manuals and Curriculum Materials for science teachers; to ensure the activation of educational contexts and natural phenomena in teaching science and the employment of three-dimensional learning, in addition to preparing sub-specializations in the faculties of education for a year of Nano-degree to specialize in science standards for the next generation, preparing professional learning societies for science teachers via the Internet, where teachers with specialization meet in standards Science for the next generation ; To exchange experiences, phenomena and contexts for science teaching.
