English Abstract
This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a proposed training program based on the TPACK model in developing some teaching competencies (PTPDI) of female student teachers of the basic stage at the Faculty of Education at the Islamic University- Gaza, and their attitudes towards it.
The study sample consisted of (32) female student teachers majoring in basic education at the Faculty of Education at Islamic University-Gaza.
The researcher adopted the semi-experimental one-group approach.
The study tools involved designing a cognitive test to measure the cognitive competencies of female student teachers, an observation sheet for the teaching performance to measure skill competencies, and the attitudes scale to measure their attitudes towards the proposed training program.
The study results showed that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α=0.01) between the average scores of female student teachers in the pre and post cognitive competencies test in favour of the post application.
The study also found that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α=0.01) between the average scores of female student teachers in the pre and post teaching performance observation sheet in favour of the post-observation sheet.
There are also positive attitudes among female student teachers towards the training program.
In addition, the training program achieved effectiveness in testing cognitive competencies and in the observation sheet of teaching performance exceeding (1.2) according to Blake’s Modified Gain Ratio.
The study reached several recommendations, including the following: • Reconsidering the objectives of the basic stage teachers’ preparation programme in the faculties of education in Palestinian universities with a focus on providing them with the (PTPDI) competencies and employing the (TPACK) model as a necessity of the current era.
• Paying attention to the development of teaching competencies in general and (PTPDI) competencies in particular among student teachers of basic education, and putting these competences into practice in the lecture halls, as part of the courses of teaching strategies and methods.
• The necessity of paying attention to the competencies of the TPACK model and the competencies of the PTPDI by those responsible for the educational process in order to improve educational outcomes.
