The current study aimed to develop a reliable tool designed to measure the autonomy of children with special needs, and to search for the extent to which its components match the data of the research sample of 250 children in Mostaganem province, Algeria (159 males, 91 females), Using the descriptive approach, the autonomy scale, and descriptive and inferential statistical methods, And using the statistical program SPSS (version.

22) and the AMOS program (version 23) in data processing and analysis.

The study achieved the following results: - The scale of autonomy has high indicators of validity and reliability, - The proposed model has a good fit of the data of the Autonomy Scale with the data of the sample of children with special needs.

- The level of autonomy among children with special needs is low, - There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (= 0.05) among children with special needs in terms of autonomy due to the interaction of the variables of sex and the nature of disability.
