Abstract EN

This article aims to define the exact meaning of Taboo in modern linguistics, based on the linguistic Taboo.

The term Taboo is "socially prohibited", which has a retrograde psychological effect on its speaker due to the annoyance and embarrassment it causes when uttering it.

It also aims to identify the relationship between the branches of the Arabic language, viz.

literature: poetry and prose, rhetoric, and its association with the teachings of the Islamic religion, pinpointing the opinions of Arab linguists on it, and to highlight its semantic value in Sahih Al-Bukhari.

The study employs the descriptive approach, based on analysis and inference.

It concludes with a number of findings, the most important of which are: language is associated with religion and society.

All branches of the Arabic language are interrelated.

There is a multiplicity of means of Taboo in Arabic poetry.

There is also a diversity of the words of Taboo in the book Sahih Al-Bukhari such as alternative words of divorce, death and pessimism.

The study proposes the application of Taboo in other Sahih books due to its importance in human communication.
