Abstract EN

This current study aimed to examine the attitudes of faculty members of teaching Arabic to no-native speakers toward teaching colloquial, and their relationship to the standard language ideology in a university in Saudi Arabia.

the study was a descriptive in nature utilizing a questionnaire.

the study sample was (32) faculty members of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and the study was conducted at an institute for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers at a public university in Saudi Arabia.

the findings demonstrated that the faculty members of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers hold a negative attitude toward teaching colloquial with mean(2.26) and a standard deviation (0.72) and the degree of “ not agree”.

the faculty members agreed to teach colloquial vocabulary and paragraphs of greetings and interacting in markets.

furthermore, the study found a negative correlation significant at the level (01%) between the standard language ideology and the attitudes towards teaching colloquial.
