Gérard Genette one of the great critics of contemporary western criticism and French in particular, he has authored many critical books, on narrative studies, semiotics, literary history, reading and discours analysis.

this article attempts to shed light on the semiotic project and reading of Gérard Genette, by standing on the philosophical, and cognitive references for this project, then the most important critical concepts contained in his important critical books such as the concept of text, discours, reading and parallel discours.
