Abstract EN

The capabilities of health facilities and hospitals are distinguished in their applications of information technology, in a way that serves all their employees and beneficiaries.

Some of them try to install an integrated system, and some of them determine their use on certain modules or certain applications that manages general files of health services and saves them.

The current study aims to determine the efficiency of using health information systems and electronic medical records in the Saudi private health sector, which has been applied to a sample of hospitals and health polyclinics in Riyadh (Capital of Saudi Arabia), by identifying how the process of building, storing, sharing data, and evaluating the use of the system.

The study used the descriptive and analytical approach, and the study sample consisted of employees and officials in the polyclinics and Sanad Hospital in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The results of the study showed that the system applied in preserving data is not integrated, as records are dealt with in an electronic system separate from the administration of other services in the hospital.

This makes it difficult to exchange data between the two systems when needed, since the information in paper and electronic formats for patient service and the administration directorate of the health facility and dealing with the region office (Directorate of Health Affairs).
