Grotesque, Al-Ajaebi, recently engages numerous critics withworks and writings and every one of them traces an image of it.

Some confess that it is a genre; some consider it as a feature ofdiscourse characteristics.

It is noteworthy to mention that Aristotle alluded to the necessityof using speech in both the possible and the impossible, yet hisspeech does not refer to the existence of the grotesque "Al-Ajaebi”.

Such came into being in the West and as being a literary patternwith its own qualifications and bases through learners and Westerncritics.

So the question that arises in this respect is "How far doesthis kind of literary form have presence in the old Arabic narrativeheritage? How did it manifest itself? It is to trace the concept of Al-Ajaeby in the West since itemanates from the West and as found in Introduction to Literatureof Fatastique of Tzvetan Todorov, so the article is to reveal the extentof agreeability between the Arabic presentation of the concept andthat of The West.
