Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The idea of toleration and peaceful coexistence took a further dimension in al-Andalus from the Arab conquest to this country till their departure from it in 1492.

Arab entrance to the al-Andalus did confirm divine religions and peaceful coexistence among people, especially among Muslims, Christians, and Jewish.

Consequently, it appears that a new Andalusian civilization had taken place, in the fields of culture, thought, and civilian institutions.

This study is concerned mainly with these principles since it was interpreted practically in dealing with those involved in scientific fields, especially medicine.

As for the medical field, it should be noticed that early Muslims did not pay much attention to the general sciences as a whole, and the medical sciences among them.

Therefore, they got their medical knowledge from Christian physicians, though they had no detailed and exact scientific medical knowledge.

The medical industry for Muslims was raised during the age of al-ummaid Amir, Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman (the middle), when a group of physicians, Muslims, and others were perfected in this field, although we have no more information on them.

Nevertheless, it was found that six physicians who engaged in medicine, four of them were Christian.

This has especially emerged during the Emara era, and that reflected the expansion of the medical industry in al-Andalus, and that reached its apogee during the caliphate era.

The study discovered that many Muslim physicians and Christians were shared in developing the medical industry, and taking care of Andalusian society.

It could be indicated to the freedom that was given to Andulisan people to study medicine, and translate many medical books, thus very good scientific results were observed to be reached.
