It is objectively undeniable that to approach the literary and historical writings of the Emir Abd-el-Kader’s period, we should opt for a study based on material witness and the main archival sources as well as the manuscripts and the authentic and authenticated documents.

This approach inevitably implies an archaeological inventory before any academic analysis, which can only be achieved within the framework of a holistic conception of the two sides taking into consideration all the factors relevant to the colonial period as well as the historical changes of the Emir’s period
