Abstract EN

This research aims to shed the light on the general framework of the CEDAW agreement, studying its provisions then connected it to those that Algeria has reserved with its justifications, in terms of the compatibility and difference of content of the agreement with the family law whose provisions are derived from the Islamic “Sharia”, as well as the impact of these reservations on the international commitment to the convention.

as a result, Algeria, despite its ratification of the convention, in addition to all the facilities it provided, such as taking bold steps in the context of compatibility of the legal arsenal with the convention, but it is still far from a satisfactory vision in the eyes of organizations calling for the freedom of women and equality between them and men.

unlike the United Nations charter, which stipulates respect for cultural and religious diversity in countries.
