Abstract EN

This study entitled "France's policy towards Greater Sirte "Gulf of Sirte", extends from the end of the Second World War until 1952.

We know that France has become a major player in the settlement of the Libyan affair, with the consequences of the Second World War and the Italian defeat in January 1943.

The objective is to analyze French policy towards this important region, in particular during its installation in Fezzan.

At first, a historical presentation seems essential to fully understand our subject, as well as to show France's interest in this region.

Secondly, we will focus on French action in this area.

We will see how French politicians worked to get their hands on her.

Finally, despite French support for certain tribes and chiefs, the strategic rivalry left France without real influence due to competition with the English in particular or at least the Italians.
