Abstract EN

The paper monitors with research and analysis the media coverage provided by Libyan news websites for the elections on December 24, 2021.

The researcher argues that there is great importance in employing news websites to educate the public about the need to participate and push them to exercise their electoral right, due to the press and technical characteristics of these websites in terms of form and content that enable them to provide contents Effective media if good recruitment is employed.

Through follow-up, the researcher noticed the lack of media interest in this entitlement despite its importance.

In view of the difficulty of studying all news websites, the researcher chose Al-Wasat Gate and Africa Gate as two models for this research because of their electronic properties, journalistic capabilities and diversity in journalistic content.

The media contents related to the electoral entitlement to be implemented on December 24, 2021 were presented, and the research relied on the descriptive approach, with a comprehensive survey of all media contents related to the electoral entitlement, which were published on the two sites during the period from 1/8 to 1/9/2021, through a content analysis form for media contents.

Published by the two sites during the period specified for the research.

The research reached a set of results, the most important of which is that the signatories concerned with research and analysis did not attach appropriate importance to the electoral process, and this became clear in terms of quantity and content.

From the total content published by the two sites on various issues and topics, the two sites also neglected to employ the digital features available to them during their coverage of the electoral issue In addition, they did not present the content in investigative journalistic forms, except in a very small proportion, and they contented themselves with providing simple information in the form of short news.
