Translation studies have developed through the ages, and it is no longer a literal conversion from one language to another, especially in modern times.

translation occupies an important place in the fields of linguistics and comparative literature and has become an indispensable science for a number of disciplines that rely on translation in their studies such as political, social, theology and applied sciences studies.

the development of translation studies is due to its long history in addition to a theoretical and practical movement of Arabic literature through the ages.

indeed, orientalists had the lion's share in the translation of Arabic literature, that’s why we will focus on one of the most eminent contemporary orientalists who was interested in modern Arabic literature : André Miquel.

it was the last of the French orientalists who gave Arab culture a specific place in the western cultural scene, through a prolific and distinguished production, and translations from diverse fields; poetry, criticism, thought and geography.
