Abstract EN

This article aims to get to know the concept of sustainable development and to identify the most important needs and obstacles that the Republic of Yemen suffers from in this regard.

The importance of the study lies in the topic it addresses.

Sustainable development is of great importance at the national, regional and even international levels.

The study employs the descriptive approach through the method of deduction which is based on deducing specific ideas from a general idea and mixes this with a realistic analysis linking diagnosis and treatments on the one hand, and reality on the other hand.

The research refers to a number of previous studies available in the literature on the topic including books, journal articles and internet websites.

The study concludes with a number of findings, the most important of which are: the war going on as well as the unfair blockade on Yemen is one of the biggest obstacles to sustainable development at the present time.

The financial and administrative mismanagement in successive governments prevented sustainable development and its application in Yemen.

The study recommends getting benefited from the countries that have legalized the sustainable development projects, and getting free from depending completely on the outside policies.
