Hydrus 2D/3D version 2.05 was used to simulate the distribution of moisture contents in the presence of sunflower plants in clay loam soil drip under the soil surface.

A field experiment was conducted at the Agricultural Research Station of the Indian College of Agricultural Sciences/University of Baghdad (Station F) near the calculator center at latitude “28.41” 16 º 33 N, longitude of “26.11” 23º 44º E, and at a height of 43 meters above the level of The sea surface, the sensors were placed at different depths of the soil surface, and the sunflower crop was planted.

The results showed that the experiment of 20 m length of tape was superior to the experiment of drip tape length of 40 m in disc diameter.

A simulation field was designed depending on the depth of the dripper, and the moisture contents were monitored with the presence of the plant in the soil 24 hours after the irrigation procedure.

The results showed a good agreement between the measured and predicted moisture contents by Hydrus 2D/3D program.

The results also showed a decrease in the moisture content as we moved away from the drip source at a depth of 0.30 m, as the spread of the root system was in the depth (0-15) cm.

Accordingly, the Hydrus 2D/3D program can be considered as a tool to predict moisture distribution with the presence of the plant in the root zone of the subsurface drip irrigation system.
