A field experiment was conducted in the field at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences/University of Baghdad, Al-Jadriya region during summer 2020, was the objective of this study the effect of the subsurface drip irrigation system on the production of the rice Oryza sativa L.

crop.

Two factors were studied, in the research which included the distance between the irrigation tubes (T-tape).

With three levels of 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm, and the irrigation Three periods which was 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days.

The amount of added water, plant height, number of branches per panicle, and grain yield were estimated analyzed using Nested experimental design under the RCBD and with three replications.

Least significant difference utilized at (LSD = 0.05) to compare among treatments.

The results showed that there were significant differences between the treatments, The distance exceeded 10 cm by achieving the highest plant height of 57.5 cm and the highest grain yield amounted to 3.287 tons.

ha-1, while the distance of 20 cm exceeded with the highest number of branches per panicle reached 10.33 branch.

While the 1 day irrigation periods was superior by achieving the least amount of added water, which amounted to 15, 361 m3.

ha-1, the highest plant height was 58.5 cm, and the highest grain yield was 3.801 tons.

ha-1, while the periods of irrigation every 2 days had the highest number of branches per panicle which reached 10.77 branch.

The bilateral interaction between the distance of 10 cm and the of 1 day irrigation periods was superior by achieving the highest plant height of 75.3 cm and the highest grain yield amounted to 3.927 tons.

ha-1, while the bilateral interaction between the distance of 15 cm and the 2 days irrigation periods achieved the highest branches of the number of branches per panicle, which reached 11.30 branch.
