The Great Musayyib project was chosen for study based on the natural and cultivated plant diversity, as they are found in different areas of the sedimentary plain.

This project is located in the Babylon Governorate between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, where it is located between the geographical coordinates 33.53 and 32.76 north 57.39 and 40.35 east, as the area of the land of this project is 38695 Hectare.

4 Bedon were identified after obtaining the completed soil survey maps with the aim of analyzing those maps by cartography.

The key soils spread in the study area were identified by 4 four key soil series.

After identifying these series, Bedon was dug in each series to analyze their characteristics.

On soil and plant biomass samples using a GPS Where these pedons were revealed and their horizons were described morphologically and fundamentally, samples were obtained from all horizons and some chemical properties were studied.

The first is11.02 As for the content of organic matter, it ranged between 0.6-8.2.

We note its decrease in the soils of the study area, and this is due to the dry climate prevailing in it, which is reflected in the severity of the decomposition of organic matter in the soil in addition to the lack of natural vegetation and weak agricultural exploitation.

This variation can be attributed to the nature of the existence and distribution of vegetation cover Which is the main source of organic matter.

As for the cation Exchange capacity of positive ions, it ranged between 3.21-32.10.

This decrease in CEC values is related to the distribution of the volumes of the particles or tissues, as the low values are related to sandy tissues, as this is evident in Abydon IV.
