The experiment was conducted at the University of Baghdad in Jadiriyah in 2022 to study the effect of tire inflation pressure of the tractor and the forward speed on technical indicators of the combined unit.

Three levels of tire pressure 15 psi, 20 psi and 25 psi and three levels of ground speed 3.9, 4.8 and 6.1 km hr-1 were used.

The effect of these two factors were studied on the characteristics of slip percentage, field productivity, traction power and fuel consumption rate.

The results were analyzed by using the least significant difference (LSD) method at the 0.05 level and compared with the Completely Randomized Design-(CRD).

Increasing the tire inflation pressure from 15 to 20 and then to 25 psi led to a significant increase in the percentage of slip from 9.24 to 10.69 and then to 12.18% , but a significant decrease in the average field productivity from 0.706 to 0.679 and then to 0.670 ha h-1 respectively.

It also led to a significant decrease in the traction power from 16.67 to 14.56, then to 13.01 mechanical horsepower, but a significant increase in fuel consumption from 21.52 to 22.62 and then to 24.01 L ha-1 respectively.

Increasing the speed from 3.9 to 4.8 and then to 6.1 km hr-1 led to a significant increase in the percentage of slip from 8.38% to 10.69% and then to 14.94% , a field productivity increase from 0.556 to 0.673, then to 0.828 ha h-1, a tractive power increase from 10.59 to 14.06, then to 19.58 hp, but a significant decrease in the fuel consumption rate from 24.43 to 22.45, then to 21.27 ha h-1 respectively.

Based on the foregoing, it is preferable to work at 15psi and a ground speed of 6.1 ha h-1 to obtain the best results.
