Abstract EN

The paper aimed to study the determinants of foreign direct investment inflows in Sudan during the period (1991-2018).

The importance of the study is represented in enriching the study as¬pect in the field of the Sudanese economy, especially on an im¬portant source of financing and attracting foreign exchange, which is foreign direct investment.

The study problem revolves around the issue of Sudan’s shortage of foreign exchange resources and its aspiration to attract foreign direct investment by identifying its determinants.

Four hypotheses have been developed; which are the existence of a positive statistically significant relationship be¬tween real GDP, economic openness and foreign direct investment inflows, and negative relation with both inflation and the exchange rate.

The study used the descriptive and deductive approach, the historical approach and the quantitative standard approach, using one of the ready-made analysis programs.

The results of the analysis are the acceptance of three of the assumptions that concluded that the determinants of foreign direct investment in Sudan are real GDP with a positive and significant relationship, and inflation and the exchange rate have a significant and negative relationship, and the fourth hypothesis of economic openness is re¬jected.

Among the most important recommendations of the study is that the state should work to increase the real GDP, activate the role of external economic openness, and set up a structural and economic reform program aimed at removing distortions in the economy and controlling the exchange rate and inflation.
