Abstract EN

The article analyses the situation of the first generation of Soninke Muslim immigrants from Kays (Mali), living in a migrant workers' hostel in the Paris suburbs.

the sociological study of this social group focuses on immigration and Islam in the public space in France.

the discourse of republicanism, in particular, provokes debates on the integration of immigrants and also the possibility of their expulsion from French soil.

the study reveals France's increasing caution in the face of the growing Muslim community, while seeking ways to stop migration from Muslim countries.

in this sense, it tends to reinforce security measures against community drift and Muslim emancipation.

the analysis of the religious life of the Soninke in France is carried out in a context of state interventionism and their marginalisation.
