Abstract EN

This study aims to test the effect of Algerian immigrants' remittances on supporting economic growth in Algeria during the period 1990-2020, using the co-integration and causality tests and the directed error correction model.

the results of the standard study showed a long-term relationship between the remittances of Algerian immigrants and economic growth in Algeria, but the effect of immigrant remittances was inversely and statistically unintentional on economic growth, and the causality test showed that neither of them caused the other’s changes.

as for the estimation of the relationship in the short term, it showed that economic growth returns to a state of equilibrium when exposed to shocks or imbalances in an estimated period of two years and about four months.

these results are logical given the small size of these remittances and their weak contribution, which did not exceed 03% of Algeria’s GDP during the study period.
