Abstract EN

The inclusion complex between Metoprolol tartrate and methyl P cyclodextrin (MpCD) has been formed then investigated using 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO-d6) as a solvent.

UV spectrometry indicated that a complex with 1:1 stoichiometry is predominant in the solution.

1H NMR chemical shift displacements between complexed and free metoprolol tartrate were significant .

The data suggested that the methoxyethyl moiety and aromatic region of metoprolol tartarte are deeply inserted in cyclodextrine cavity, while the residual side chain of metoprolol tartrate stayed outside of the cavity above or below the torus ring of MpCD.
