The Department of Musical Arts is one of the most distinguished sections in the world due to the rise of this art perfection and pure beauty.

Some philosophers have classified it as the first rank in the fine arts, while this art has declined in recent years.

This research will examine the motives that made the student away from this art and study, and the goal of the research to find out the measure of motives of the student submitted to study the competence of music and its view, and followed the researcher approach description and the results of the study showed that.

There is a weakness in the psychological, educational and forced motives of the Students of the first stage in the music arts department at the University of Basra (2018-2019).

The researcher recommended the following things in brief teaching the student music in schools that precede the stage of joining the Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Music.
